Normally I post very optimistic posts and quotes. But this caught my eye today when a friend posted this to just take 2 seconds to read. It's so true, we get caught up in chasing dreams, people, goals, aspirations which is phenomenal and what should be happening. But sometimes we forget that life is happening around us. We are only a certain age once, we will only be in this one place, at this specific time, living in this exact moment once. What is keeping you from living the life YOU want - not what others expect of you.
I am completely guilty of getting stuck trying to please everyone around me, and I forget that my happiness is just as great, or even greater. We all aim to please, and receiving feedback is human nature. But sometimes YOU have to be the one that gives yourself a pat on the back, not waiting for someone else.
Also, I hate hearing, "Yeah, I used to be good at that" or "I always wanted to do that." What are you waiting for? Go do what you used to do, go after what you want. NO ONE is stopping you nor going to hold your hand to get there. You are your biggest friend and enemy. Be your number 1 fan and cheer yourself on to live the life YOU want to live.
I know this might sound corny, but I never thought I'd travel the world at 20 years old - be living completely on my own, putting food on the table at night... all while doing what I LOVE to do and have worked my whole life on. I am able to sit and be thankful to a lot of people of course, but mainly to MYSELF. No one woke me up for dance class every morning to train. No one made me go to the auditions I go to. I wanted it. I know every day when I woke up the decisions and choices I make in a day are only benefiting me for something greater! Believe that everything you do is a stepping stone to where you want to be in life.
When you hit a plateau, it's OKAY. I freak out sometimes, guilty. But stressing makes things worse I believe. When you change things up a little, think a little different, challenge yourself outside of your comfort zone, things start to happen. STAY OPTIMISTIC.
Count your blessings. Every night before I go to bed, my mother taught me this in grade school, I write down 5 positive things that happened in that day. After a while it becomes a habit to just realize all the awesome things that go on in your life on a daily basis that half the time you don't even realize.
Don't lose sleep at night worrying about the future. You have to know that things will fall where they fall if you wake up with a smile everyday living it to its fullest :) You can't change the past, alter the present or plan the future.
All in all, laugh more. Love unconditionally. and smile every chance you get.
What would your biggest regret be if this was your last day of life?
